The Virginia Rent Relief Program (RRP) is designed to support and ensure housing stability across the commonwealth during the coronavirus pandemic. This includes financial assistance for rent payments past due beginning April 1, 2020.

Childcare Payments
Studies suggest that 45 percent of college students experience food insecurity, which means that they are purchasing less nutritious meals or forgoing some meals altogether. Among community college students, the problem is even more severe. Democrats increased access to our Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps) to include college students. Nutritional Assistance for College Students
We expanded Medicaid in 2018 allowing more than 500,000 Virginians to have access to quality health care. More adults in Virginia now have access to quality low-cost and no-cost health insurance. Virginians aged 19-64 can submit an application at any time of the year to get the healthcare they need so they don't have to worry about getting sick. Medicaid Expansion
Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare (BRBH) is the Community Services Board serving adults, children and families with mental health disorders, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders in the Roanoke Valley. Health Care Services
No family should sacrifice their health needs based on financial limitations. The United Way of the Roanoke Valley has teamed up with FamilyWize to provide an average of 42% savings on prescription costs. Prescription Assistance
No Virginian should be without access to cooling or heating. Applications for help with your heating and cooling bills or equipment needs are accepted online (at commonhelp.virginia.gov/access/), by calling (855) 635-4370, or at your local department of social services. Utility Relief
The USDA National Hunger Clearinghouse helps low-income people with food assistance. If you need help finding local food resources such as meal sites, food banks, and other social services, call 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (Spanish) to speak with a representative. You can also text “97779” to the automated service with a question that may contain a keyword such as “food,” “meals,” etc., to receive an automated response to local resources.
